The Curator's Message

Over the Easter holidays the museum ran an Easter Egg Hunt and Quiz. 159 children took part in the quiz, finding the eggs and discovering the mystery name – Oliver Cromwell - to win a chocolate egg prize! Over double last year!!

This March the museum was visited on two occasions by a Mystery Shopper. She was very impressed with the welcome and help given by the Stewards. One of the days she visited also included a large school and the grand opening of the foyer! Here is a bit about what she thought –“The volunteers mostly go out of their way to ensure a great visit and are always available to help/advise/inform. The volunteers seemed to be generally well informed, passionate and eager to pass on what they know but also to encourage the thoughts of the visitor and develop that thinking. Overall I think the museum and church are a great place to visit.”

I would like to say a big thank you and well done to all the Stewards of the museum and I would like to specially mention Lloyd DeQuincey, Ross Hadley, Joan Howe, Colin Larner, Elizabeth Lorusso, Diana Palmer and Andrew Rome who were working in the Museum and the Church and made a very good impression on the mystery visitor.

Tuesday 8 and Wednesday 9 May the museum will be extending its opening hours to 7.00pm so that visitors to the Saltmine Theatre’s production of The Pilgrim’s Progress can find out more about the man behind the story.

A reminder again about the summer exhibition, ‘Sunday Scholars’– if you attended Sunday school or one of the dissenting academies and have any memories you would like to share (or can persuade someone else to share with us), please contact me on 01234 270303 or email curator@bunyanmeeting.co.uk. If you have any objects (prizes, books, attendance stamps or photos) or religious themed toys, we would be very interested to see them and perhaps borrow them to display in the exhibition. Thank you!
