CORPORATE PROFILE

The John Bunyan Museum & Library is managed by the Museum and Library Committee and supported on a day-to-day basis by 30+ volunteers. It is governed by the Trustees of Bunyan Meeting.

In 2011 the Trustees appointed a part-time curator with the aim of putting the management and development of the museum and library, and the care of its collections onto a more professional basis. In 2006 John Bunyan Museum achieved accreditation.

The John Bunyan Museum & Library exists to collect, conserve, and interpret, for the public benefit, artefacts, books and other materials relating to the life, times, and works of John Bunyan, and the history of Bunyan Meeting.

Under the new curator, the museum has taken part in museum development programmes that have given access to expert support in the production of a Forward Plan 2014-18 (Margaret Greeves) and Marketing Strategy 2014-17 (Helen Mitchell). The museum continues to benefit from support from Bedford’s Museum Development Officer and SHARE Museums East.
