Librarian Role Profile  Librarian Application Form

An important collection of books, pamphlets, biographies and more, by and relating to, John Bunyan.

Alongside writings by John Bunyan and his contemporaries, the library houses biographies of Bunyan and other historical figures; historical background, including the history of Bunyan Meeting and other Nonconformist churches; pamphlets and sermons.

The international reach of Bunyan’s work is reflected in our collection of some 400 foreign language editions. This includes The Pilgrim’s Progress in over 200 different languages and dialects, many beautifully illustrated, from priceless early editions to contemporary comic book versions.

A changing display of works from the library can be seen in the Museum. Limitations in space and staffing mean that access to the library is by appointment only. However we welcome researchers and request two weeks’ notice.

The library is small but atmospheric. We offer researchers space in the attractive Harlington Room next door as a base. Our Curator and volunteer Librarian will be happy to support your visit in any way they can.

Volunteer librarians help catalogue the collection, undertake research and work on conservation projects. Whether you are a student librarian, looking to learn a new skill, or want to deploy existing skills in a new environment, we offer enjoyable and rewarding work experience in an inspiring and professional environment.

We welcome donations to the collection. If you think you have something we may be interested in, please email the Curator ( We regret that we are not able to offer a valuation service.
